After a slow start to the season and a disappointing result against Rossa We were Extremely happy to come away with a great overall win in Newry against saval (which in my memory we havent came away from the with a win in single and doubles in the same year) and a narrow but impressive win against last years division 2 team Mc Dermotts which has a lot of experienced handballers. The antrim handball championships start next monday with Roy Stiit, Mark Lynch, Brendan Herron and Myself entered in the singles and Brendan Herron and Myself entered in the doubles, as soon as this is over i will give you an update. the next league match isnt until the new year so will keep you up to date with that as soon as it happens.

Handball has been running in Lamh Dhearg for about 15 years now, we started of in the division 7 and have gradually worked are way up to division 3. Previously we had 3 separate teams competing in 3 different leagues but due to players emigrating to other countries to live, player focusing on different code for club and county and player retiring we are currently down to one competitive team who are currently holding there own in a very competitive league.
We have had some excellent success over the years with 2 all-Ireland medal winners in Brendan Herron and Kevin Holmes (who partners Davitts Owen McKenna in the doubles). Michael Herron was also an All-Ireland Finalist and Gavin Lynch, Brendan Herron, Kevin Dunne and Kevin Holmes coming 3rd in the All-Ireland community games. We have also had a list of Co. Antrim champions and some Ulster Chanpions.
